We’ve got new underground hailing from Atlanta, the birthplace of trap. What’s unique is that we get to see the legacy beautifully wrapped in rage. It not only speaks to the trained ear, but also pays homage to the infectious lyricism and melodic flows the genre introduced.
getdoeahman brings that combination to the table, despite his Cali roots. His debut album B4FF has tracks that keep him locked in with smooth delivery, and it’s impossible not to head-bop along. “did dat” is punchy but still flowy, so it keeps pulling you back. The distortions hit jarringly, the bass booms loud and lengthy, and the whole project feels worth a front-to-back listen.
getdoeahman is kicking down Atl’s new rage trap sound…
Having entered the scene in 2023, the texture of his raps already establishes its own lane, akin to others popping up on the Atl scene, like Nine Vicious and Zukeenee. His voice scratches that itch in your brain and also brings versatility - even outside rage, it fits right in with any trap base. On B4FF’s “every hour every minute”, he lightly glides over a beat literally evoking the old “Knuckle If You Buck” sound. In fact, he even remixed Nine Vicious’ “Studio Addict” on “OG YN”, stretching into a relaxed flow over a sample-heavy mellow backdrop. His vocals are infinitely bendable, with a huge range that always hypes you up.
In that sense, his visuals match the same free-range style. Peep the “play dis at da bank” mv - you’ll catch how candid the lopsided angles feel as he raps and moves across settings. The electric energy floods into you right as it clicks that he’s on the come-up.
