Logan Green is making emotion exhilarating…

Logan Green brings the personal to the personality, embracing trap-territory subgenres with such confident versatility that you’re bound to latch on to his wavy, liquid confessional sounds that don’t just make you feel a little less lonely, but also have you tilting your head up high. For fans of Trippie Redd and X’s music, his modulation reaches an all-too-familiar bleeding pitch, drawing you in with its emotive heaviness - which even serves you in a sort of anthem-esque way, chanting its way toward an adrenaline rush.

Starting off with an old project, one such highlight is “KEEP IT P” - jarring in its distorted rage spirals, but with his vocals providing those deep-to-high vocal floats that have you head banging, while essentially being absorbed in something that’s more than just raps. It’s delivery-centric, the way it’ll have you experiencing the rush of self-assurance, not just nodding along to it. Whipping out the personal, then, transcends boundaries.

But the craziest, most unexpected example of such personality is his project CRUSH, where diversity isn’t simply a shiny complement, but the whole groundwork, intentionally meant to deliver a painful heartbreak in the form of rollercoastering emotions. From the start itself, you’re pulled in by the existentially melodic “Replace”, but then the beat picks up into an EDM whirlwind, as if the tunnelling self-grieving calls lead straight to a crash - but whether you feel it empower you or get sent into a spiral is entirely for you to make your own. Throughout the album, Logan keeps such open-ended vulnerability alive, and as you drift through phonk, jerk, and pluggnb, coating the feels with a tint of excitement, you feel yourself drifting to its honesty.

And such contradictions don’t stop there - his last project Antifreeze is, in his own words, him “choosing to embrace the chills”. With darker nocturnal cloud rap, the personal comes out through often-downtrodden reflections on having made it this far. The drifts, even the brighter pockets, have a melting quality to them as he makes looking inward the thematic focus, even while the world blazes around you.
