TwoFifty meshes cloud rap with soul on “Coat”

There is an otherworldly feeling that you get when you listen to TwoFifty’s “Coat”

Clocking in at under three minutes, it‘s straight vibes throughout. Coat by TwoFifty is a song for the summer. Comparable to Yung Lean’s, TwoFifty is an artist who meshes cloud rap with hinges of soul. Lyrically, I enjoyed this track. The lyrics just made sense to the otherworldly vibe created in this song. And don’t even get me started on the instrumental and production aspect on this track.

To whomever produced this song for TwoFifty, all I can say is bless your soul.

This production makes me feel like I’m at a rager at someone’s house and we’re all just vibing. Listening to this track in my room I was jumping around, dancing, and even as I write this piece I’m tapping my foot to the beats on the song. This is the song I’d play when my friends give me aux on a road trip, or the track I’d listen to when I’m in a high energy situation and I need to hear something that matches that.

Released on June 23rd, the music video is strongly reminiscent of the Y2K Cyber aesthetic. It reminded me of VHS playing on a CRT TV, and for someone who’s into that aesthetic, I was quite pleased. Filmed on a camcorder, I feel like the music video works hand-in-hand with the track. From the wide-eye lens’ to the driving shots, this music video just makes sense when the song plays.

TwoFifty’s recent release, “Coat”, embraces cloud rap and meshes soul into ethereal sounding production. There’s something that makes me feel like I’m floating when I listen to this track. It’s energetic & chill, it conveys a strong energy that can be felt throughout.

With only two songs out on his Spotify, 14 monthly listeners and under 1k streams on both songs present on his Spotify. He’s a rising star in the cloud rap scene & he is criminally underrated. It would be a sin to not give him the hype.
