Yaz Enfermo is an artist I’m excited to showcase.
He’s bringing an alternative sound to the Philadelphia underground, which is a space I’ve been familiar with for quite a while as it’s the city that the roots of ORS were established within. He recently put out his project “VANISH MODE,” the lead single being the song '“CHILL OUT.”
“CHILL OUT” features those alternative vibes so well, with a beautiful, soulful sample in the production combined with bouncy percussion. His crooning vocals and adlibs remind me a bit of Tory Lanez. It culminates into a very romantic sound, and it’s also incredibly repayable.
As mentioned above, he just recently put out a project titled “VANISH MODE.” You can check out the cover art for it to the right. The romantic themes are reinforced with Yaz being in his suit with the rose and in nature. The project has a lot of smooth vibes sprinkled all over it. “KEEP ON RUNNIN” is probably my second favorite song. His smooth vocals are present here as well, and that beat almost reminds me of a Mario Kart level, as funny as that sounds.
It’s almost retro-esque, with a modern finish and shine. “HIGH OFF LUV” has a lot of R&B vibes, reminding me a bit of Fridayy. “ANYTHING FOR YOU” is my third favorite song. It features a guitar beat that spills more of Yaz’s manifesto over a lost love and how he’s continued to grow past from it (by getting money, haha).
It’s beautiful to see artists show a more vulnerable side of themselves when, at least in the underground scene, that’s something that isn’t really promoted or encouraged. When you put that over soulful and smooth beats, you get a sound that feels super warm and easy to listen to. That’s exactly what Yaz has achieved here.
